Planning a Road Trip?

There is a reason people have been heading west for centuries — something out there calls to the adventurer in all of us. The mountains. The wide open plains. The red rock canyons carved by ancient rivers. The national parks so magnificent they make you feel like you are standing inside a painting. The big sky that goes on forever and the stars at night so thick and bright they make you catch your breath. I grew up traveling out west every summer with my family and those adventures carved something into my soul that has never faded. The west is in my blood — and after nearly 30 years of exploring it with my camera, I can tell you with absolute certainty that it is one of the most extraordinarily beautiful places on the face of this earth. Florida's Gulf Coast
If you have never watched a sunset from the Gulf Coast of Florida you have not yet seen what a sunset can truly be. Every single evening the sky above the Gulf puts on a show so spectacular — so impossibly vivid in its golds and pinks and deep burning oranges — that people stop whatever they are doing, gather on the beach, and watch in complete and reverent silence until the last sliver of sun sinks below the water and the whole sky sighs into dusk. Clearwater Beach. Siesta Key. Sanibel. Naples. Fort Myers Beach. Every stretch of this coastline delivers evening magic that will stay with you forever. Venice, Italy
The single greatest piece of advice I can give you about Venice — the one thing that will transform your experience of this extraordinary city from wonderful to completely unforgettable — is this. Wake up early. Earlier than you think you need to. Set your alarm for five thirty in the morning, pull on your shoes, and walk out into a Venice that most visitors never see. The canals still and silver in the early light. The calle empty and echoing with your footsteps. The sun rising over the lagoon and turning the whole city to gold one ancient facade at a time. The vegetable boats making their morning deliveries along the back canals. The smell of fresh bread from a bakery not yet open to the public.
